Issued: 1:57 AM EDT Aug. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 515 am EDT for south
central Montgomery... southeastern Loudoun and north central Fairfax
counties...

At 155 am EDT, Fire Department officials reported flooding on
roadways in the Darnestown and Potomac area, especially near Watts
branch. Flooding has also been reported on beach mill and Seneca
roads in Fairfax County.

Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Rockville, Gaithersburg, Reston, Herndon, Lowes Island, Potomac,
Sterling, North Potomac, Great Falls, Darnestown and Sterling Park.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northeastern Loudoun County in northern Virginia...

* until 445 am EDT Wednesday.

* At 1037 PM EDT, Doppler radar and indicated thunderstorms had
produced heavy rain over the area. Up to three inches of rain have
already fallen. A stream gauge on the South Fork catoctin creek
near Waterford indicates flooding will begin shortly. Other
streams may also experience flooding.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Leesburg, Purcellville, Hamilton, Paeonian Springs, Waterford,
Lucketts, Lincoln, Hughesville and Taylorstown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
