High Surf Advisory
Issued: 11:56 PM PST Dec. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory in effect from 4 PM Sunday to 10 am PST
Monday...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a high surf
advisory, which is in effect from 4 PM Sunday to 10 am PST
Monday.

* Waves... swells of 19 to 22 ft will reach the Washington coast.

* Some affected locations... the beaches near Westport, Ocean
Shores, Moclips, Taholah, Kalaloch Lodge, and La Push.

* Timing... big swells of 16-19 ft will begin reaching the coast
Sunday evening. Their size will peak around 22 ft Sunday night,
then diminish below 20 ft Monday morning.

* Impacts... these unusually large waves will run farther up the
beaches. There could occasionally be splashing of waves over
levees and other structures. Some beach erosion is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
