Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwestern South Dakota, south central South
Dakota, southwestern South Dakota, and the Black Hills of
South Dakota, including the following areas, in northwestern
South Dakota, the northern foot hills and the Sturgis/Piedmont
foot hills. In south central South Dakota, Mellette, Todd, and
Tripp. In southwestern South Dakota, Bennett, Haakon, Jackson,
Oglala Lakota, the Custer County plains, the Fall River County
plains, the Hermosa foot hills, the Pennington County plains,
the Rapid City area, and the southern foot hills. In the Black
Hills of South Dakota, the central Black Hills, the northern
Black Hills, and the southern Black Hills.

* Through Monday afternoon

* 1 to 2 inches of rainfall are possible, and with already
saturated ground, flooding will be possible.

* Flooding that develops could wash out roads in low-lying
areas, as well as impact property along creeks, streams, and
rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible along rivers and
creeks in the watch area, but is not imminent. If you are in the
watch area, take time to move livestock, equipment, and other
property from low lying areas before flooding occurs. Monitor
NOAA Weather Radio and local media for updated forecasts and be
ready to quickly move to higher ground if rising water levels are
observed or a warning is issued.
