Flood Warning
Issued: 3:28 PM EST Feb. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Maysville
* until further notice.
* At 3 PM the stage was 51.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 50 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise to near 53.6 feet by Monday evening. The river will
then begin falling, but remain above flood stage for the next 5 days.
* At stages near 53.5 feet, flooding occurs in low areas of Ripley and
Aberdeen, Ohio. Areas within the flood plain are increasingly
inundated. Backwater and lowland flooding can be expected along the
river. The city of Maysville itself is protected to a stage just
above 79 feet.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Portsmouth
* until further notice.
* At 3 PM the stage was 50.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 50 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise to near 57.0 feet by Tuesday morning. The river
will then begin falling, but remain above flood stage for the next 5
days.
* At stages near 56.0 feet, flooding through Scioto County continues,
with water entering lower levels of homes in Fullerton. Portions of
Route 52 are closed due to flooding.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including the
following areas, in Indiana, Dearborn, Fayette in, Franklin
in, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, Union in, and Wayne. In
Kentucky, Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant,
Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio,
Adams, Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Fairfield,
Fayette OH, Franklin OH, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking,
Licking, Madison, Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross,
Scioto, and Warren.

* Through Sunday morning

* more rainfall is expected, with the potential for heavy
rainfall at times between Saturday morning and Sunday morning.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches will be possible
through Sunday morning.

* Excessive rainfall will cause local rivers, creeks, and
streams to rise. Those near streams and rivers should be
especially cautious as streams and rivers can rise quickly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area, especially those living in areas prone
to flooding, should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings.
