Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 9:00 PM EST Dec. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Ohio and West Virginia, including the
following areas, in southeast Ohio, Athens, Gallia, Jackson
OH, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington. In West
Virginia, Jackson WV, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Tyler, Wirt,
and wood.

* Through Sunday morning

* rain will continue through the overnight hours. Combined with
what has already fallen, total rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2
inches are expected by Sunday morning. Most of this will occur
as runoff, which will bring area creeks and small rivers to
bankfull, if not above tonight.

* Flooding of creeks, streams, low lying and poor drainage areas
will be possible. This may result in some Road closures.
Symmes Creek, Duck Creek, Raccoon Creek, little Muskingum
River, and the Shade River are particularly vulnerable.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
