Winter Storm Warning

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST Sunday...

* what... heavy snow changing to mixed sleet and freezing rain.
Total snow and sleet accumulations of 5 to 10 inches and ice
accumulations up to a third of an inch. Winds increasing to 10
to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph by Sunday afternoon.

* Where... in Connecticut, Litchfield County. In New York,
Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties.

* When... snow becoming heavy at times, then changing to sleet and
freezing rain between 2 am and 5 am Sunday. The precipitation
could change to light rain late Sunday morning before ending as
flurries Sunday afternoon as temperatures fall sharply.

* Additional details... travel will be very difficult to
impossible across the region tonight through Sunday morning
with snow or ice covered roadways and very low visibility in
heavy snow. Snowfall rates will be 1 to 2 inches an hour at
times tonight into early Sunday morning. Accumulating ice
could result in downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.
