Excessive Heat Warning

... Excessive heat warning in effect from 11 am Thursday to 8 PM
PDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an excessive
heat warning, which is in effect from 11 am Thursday to 8 PM PDT
Saturday.

* Temperature... the hottest days of the week are expected to be
Thursday and Friday with the lower elevations of Lincoln County
reaching 100 to 105 degrees and central Nye County, including
Beatty reaching 104 to 109 degrees. Temperatures will cool
slightly on Saturday, but still remain hot.

* Impacts... heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and
heat stroke will be possible. People most vulnerable include
those who are spending lots of time outdoors... those who do
not have air conditioning... Young children... the elderly... and
those with chronic ailments.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions... if you work or spend time outside. When
possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
