Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 11:21 PM EDT Apr. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
central Rockingham County in north central North Carolina...
northern Caswell County in north central North Carolina...

* until 615 am EDT Wednesday

* at 1116 PM EDT, flooding continues along the Dan River in
north central North Carolina, affecting parts of Rockingham
and Caswell counties. The Dan River at Wentworth is falling
as is the river further downstream at Danville Virginia.
However, the gages at both locations are still well above
flood stage. In the case of Danville, the river crested
Tuesday evening just below major flood stage. Flooding of
low-lying, normally flood proned areas, and adjacent roads
and bridges in the area remains likely throughout the night.

Follow all instructions from local law enforcement regarding
Road closures. Do not attempt to drive into areas where water
covers the Road. The water depth may be too great for you to
proceed safely.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Eden...
Wentworth...
Mayodan...
Madison...
and Stoneville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
