Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:08 PM CDT Oct. 15, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
northwestern St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
north central Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* until 1100 PM CDT.

* At 905 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. One to two inches of rain has already fallen
across much of New Orleans and the westbank, while one to three
inches of rain has fallen over far eastern areas of Orleans
Parish.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
New Orleans, Chalmette, Marrero, Harvey, east New Orleans,
Timberlane, Gretna, Lake Catherine, Terrytown, Arabi, Woodmere,
Estelle and Lakefront Airport.

Additional rainfall of one to two inches is possible over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
