The Flood Warning continues for
the Arkansas River at Arkansas City.
* Until further notice.
* At 2:00 am Saturday the stage was 17.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 19.3 feet by
early Sunday morning then begin falling.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Walnut river at Arkansas City.
* Until Wednesday morning.
* At 2:46 am Saturday the stage was 19.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 22.0 feet by
Monday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
evening.
* Impact... at 23.0 feet... two c street canal gates are closed at the
Highway 77 at Walnut river levee.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Walnut river at Winfield.
* Until Wednesday morning.
* At 2:31 am Saturday the stage was 16.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
continue to rise to near 28.2 feet by Monday early afternoon. The
river will fall below flood stage by Tuesday evening.
* Impact... at 28.0 feet... west 14th Avenue near the Fairgrounds,
floods from the river on eastward to the levee.

* Until late Sunday night.
* At 2:00 am Saturday the stage was 26.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 29.3 feet by this
evening. The river will fall below flood stage early Sunday
afternoon.
* Impact... at 29.0 feet... sandbag or close break in the dike at the
Atchison Topeka and sante fe Railroad south of town will commence.

the Whitewater river at Augusta.
* Until Sunday evening.
* At 2:31 am Saturday the stage was 23.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 27.3 feet by this
evening. The river will fall below flood stage late Sunday morning.
* Impact... at 24.0 feet... flood waters begin to flow over southwest
70th street just to the east of the River Bridge loacted 3 miles
northwest of Augusta and also across southwest 60th street near the
River Bridge located about 4 miles northwest of town.

Neosho County in southeastern Kansas...
Montgomery County in southeastern Kansas...
Reno County in south central Kansas...
Butler County in south central Kansas...
Marion County in central Kansas...
Kingman County in south central Kansas...
Sumner County in south central Kansas...
Woodson County in southeastern Kansas...
Greenwood County in southeastern Kansas...
Allen County in southeastern Kansas...
Elk County in southeastern Kansas...
Cowley County in south central Kansas...
Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...

* until 1045 am CDT Saturday.

* At 1025 am CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding on both
secondary and primary roadways through out the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Wichita, Hutchinson, Derby, Newton, El Dorado, Arkansas City,
Winfield, Andover, Haysville, Parsons, Coffeyville, Independence,
Augusta, Chanute, Wellington, Park city, Valley Center, Bel Aire,
Mulvane and Iola.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area. Most of this rain is expected develop this afternoon
and into he evening hours in the warned area. Short term rain rates
of 4 to 5 inches are possible causing additional flash flooding.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 135 between mile markers 0 and 42.
Interstate 35 between mile markers 1 and 115.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All

* Through tonight.

* Additional thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon
through tonight across the region. High rainfall rates and
associated flash flooding will be possible with any of this
activity.

* Rapidly rising water can wash cars away and quickly flood
homes. In addition to the flash flood threat, rivers and
creeks will quickly rise, exacerbating the ongoing flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
