... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 1 PM CDT this afternoon
through Wednesday morning...

The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Kansas and
south central Nebraska, including the following areas, in
north central Kansas, Jewell, Mitchell, Osborne, Phillips,
Rooks, and Smith. In south central Nebraska, Franklin, Furnas,
Harlan, and Webster.

* From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through Wednesday morning

* multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy
rain late this afternoon through tonight. One to three inches of
rain is expected over portions of the area with locally heavier
amounts possible. Areas that received heavy rainfall Monday
night will be more prone to flooding.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
