Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:37 AM CST Feb. 15, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from noon today to
3 am CST Saturday...

* what... mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations of up to three inches are expected generally along
and north of a line from Greenville Missouri to Greenville
Kentucky. Farther south, ice accumulations averaging around one
tenth of an inch are expected.

* Where... southwest Indiana, southeast Missouri, western Kentucky
and southern Illinois.

* When... from noon today to 3 am CST Saturday. Precipitation will
begin first in southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois early
this afternoon and then progress eastward to include the entire
region by sunset.

* Additional details... plan on slippery Road conditions. The
hazardous conditions could impact the afternoon and evening
commute home from school and work. Travel conditions will
deteriorate during evening. Bridges, elevated surfaces, and
untreated roadways will tend to freeze first. Even very small
amounts of ice can produce very dangerous driving conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.




Flood Warning
Issued: 1:27 PM CST Feb. 15, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* Until Sunday February 24.
* At 12:45 PM Friday the stage was 28.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... it will rise to near 28.4 feet by this evening then
begin falling. It will fall below flood stage Saturday February 23.
* At 28.5 feet... extensive flooding in progress. Some residents along
south division street in the Mt. Carmel area and in the Keensburg
area must relocate. Several local roads are flooded, some by
several feet of water. These include south division street, CR
1280 E, three township roads south of Illinois 1 near Keensburg in
Illinois, and Wabash River Road and Wilson Road near Little Rock in
Indiana.

the White River at Hazleton.
* Until Sunday February 24.
* At 4:00 am Friday the stage was 27.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... it will continue to fall to below flood stage by Sunday
February 24.
* At 27.0 feet... water is more than 2 feet deep in west end of
Hazleton.

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Petersburg.
* Until Saturday February 23.
* At 1:30 PM Friday the stage was 25.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... it will continue to fall to below flood stage by
Saturday February 23.
* At 25.0 feet... a flood has exceeded this level each year since
January 2004, 6 out of 7 years since may 2002 and 10 times since
may 1990. Of these 10 recent floods, 7 of them have exceeded the
25.8 foot mark with the January 2005 flood the largest since
January 1937. Prior to may 1990, one must go back to March 1964
for a flood above 25 feet and back to may 1961 for a flood over 26
feet. The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area
occurred in March 1913.

the White River at Edwardsport.
* Until Tuesday morning.
* At 1:00 PM Friday the stage was 20.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... it will continue to fall to below flood stage by Monday
evening.
* At 20.0 feet... water is at critical levels for makeshift levees.
Most of bottomlands flood. Old Vincennes Road and State Road 358
between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
High water surrounds river Cabins. This type of flood occurs on
average about once a year.

the Wabash River at New Harmony.
* Until Monday February 25.
* At 10:30 am Friday the stage was 20.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 20.5 feet by
Sunday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
February 24.
* Impact... at 21.0 feet... the river is 3 miles wide at I-64.

the Flood Warning continues for
the Patoka river near Princeton
* at 9:45 am Friday the stage was 20.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 20.0 feet by this
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday before
midnight.
* Impact... at 22.0 feet... flooding affects mainly farmland. Seasonal
camping trailers closest to the river become inundated.
