Flood Warning
Issued: 1:22 PM EDT Apr. 18, 2019 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Youngs Creek at Amity.
* From late tonight until further notice.
* At 12:15 PM Thursday the stage was 2.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late tonight and continue to
rise to near 9.6 feet by Friday afternoon.
* At 10.0 feet... significant flooding in progress. Parks and some
local roads are flooded by a foot or more of water. Agricultural
flooding is noticeable.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Driftwood river near Edinburgh 2 SW.
* From Friday afternoon to late Sunday night.
* At 10:30 am Wednesday the stage was 5.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Friday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 13.1 feet by Friday evening. It will fall below
flood stage by Sunday afternoon.
* At 13.2 feet... lowland flooding in progress along Driftwood river in
northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double y saddle club
area flooded. At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950n to
club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330w just south of
its intersection with Ohio ridge Rd. CR 500n west of CR 250w is
flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river
bank. Lowell public access site is open but ramp is totally
flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000s and CR
900w.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Indiana, east central Indiana, south
central Indiana, southwest Indiana, and west central Indiana,
including the following areas, in central Indiana, Boone,
Clinton, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Howard, Johnson,
Madison, Marion, Morgan, Shelby, and Tipton. In east central
Indiana, Delaware. In south central Indiana, Brown, Lawrence,
and Monroe. In southwest Indiana, Daviess, Greene, Knox,
Martin, and Sullivan. In west central Indiana, Clay,
Montgomery, Owen, Parke, Putnam, and Vigo.

* Through Friday morning

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy
rainfall at times will impact portions of central Indiana
through tonight. 2 to 3 inches of rain with locally higher
amounts are possible by Friday morning.

* The heavy rainfall will produce flooding in low lying and poor
drainage areas..and along area rivers and creeks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
