Chester, Phoenixville, Pennsville, Coatesville, Westtown, Carneys

... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect from 8 am to noon EST
Sunday...

* locations... the tidal Delaware River downstream from the
Commodore Barry bridge area and the extreme upper part of
Delaware Bay.

* Timing... flooding will occur for a few hours around the time of
high tide on Sunday morning. High tide at Reedy Point occurs
between 9:30 and 10:30 am.

* Coastal flood impacts... up to one foot of saltwater inundation
above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near
shorelines and tidal waterways. In New Castle County, roadway
flooding is possible in New Castle, Delaware City, Port Penn,
and other locations along the Bay, the river, and the tidal
tributaries. In Salem County, flooding is possible along Oldmans
creek and the Salem river, and in Penns Grove, Carneys Point
township, Pennsville township, and other locations near the Bay,
the river, and the tidal tributaries.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of northern Delaware, northeast
Maryland, New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania, including
the following areas, in northern Delaware, New Castle. In
northeast Maryland, Cecil. In New Jersey, Camden, eastern
Monmouth, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, northwestern
Burlington, Salem, and western Monmouth. In southeast
Pennsylvania, Delaware, eastern Chester, eastern Montgomery,
lower Bucks, Philadelphia, and western Chester.

* From 7 PM EST this evening through Sunday afternoon

* rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected across the watch
area, with locally higher amounts possible.

* Periods of moderate to heavy rain will occur from late this
evening through early Sunday morning. In the areas of heaviest
rainfall, urban and poor-drainage flooding is expected to occur.
Sensitive streams and creeks will also be susceptible to
flooding, especially in areas where convection enhances
rainfall rates. River flooding cannot be ruled out, particularly
if widespread rainfall totals exceed 2 inches.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
