Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 2:50 PM MST Feb. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 am MST
Tuesday...

* what... snow showers, occasionally heavy at times, and blowing
snow occurring. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including
during the evening commute. Additional snow accumulations of 6
to 12 inches, with localized amounts up to 18 inches, are
expected.

* Where... Gore and Elk Mountains/Central Mountain valleys.

* When... until 8 am MST Tuesday.

* Additional details... winds gusting as high as 40 mph will
cause widespread blowing and drifting snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods
of snow and blowing snow will cause primarily travel
difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited
visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest Road
conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by
calling 5 1 1.




Avalanche Warning
Issued: 9:08 AM MST Feb. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

The following message is transmitted at the request of the
Colorado avalanche information center.

An avalanche warning is in effect for the mountains around Aspen

* timing... began at 06:00 am on Monday 2/19/2018... expires at 5:00
PM MST on Tuesday 2/20/2018.

* Affected areas... this warning includes... the Elk Mountains north
of The Divide... Basalt... red table... and The Hardscrabble mountains

* avalanche danger... is high (level 4 of 5)

* reason... snowfall and strong southwesterly winds will overload our
weak snowpack and result in large natural and human triggered
avalanches in many areas. Avalanches can run into the valley
bottoms.

* Precautionary/preparedness actions... avalanche conditions are very
dangerous. Human triggered and natural avalanches are likely.
Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended.
