Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 9:41 PM AKST Feb. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 am Wednesday
to 6 am akst Thursday...

* what... mixed precipitation expected. In addition, areas of
poor visibility are expected. Total snow accumulations of 4
inches, and ice accumulations of less than one tenth of an
inch are expected.

* Where... eastern Norton Sound and Nulato Hills.

* When... 3 am Wednesday to 6 am Thursday.

* Additional details... winds gusting 30 to 40 mph will cause
areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.




Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 5:30 PM AKST Feb. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory now in effect until 6 am akst
Wednesday...

* location... along the coast from the the Yukon Delta to the
Nome.

* Coastal flooding... minor flooding of low lying areas is
possible.

* Timing... through 6 am Wednesday morning. Water levels will
gradually fall through the night.


* Impacts... high water may push into low lying areas along the
coast such lagoons and rivers from the Yukon Delta to Nome.
Water is expected to push on top of shore fast ice and river
ice which could impact anyone trying to travel across the ice.
No buildings are expected to flood.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
